Today was a pretty stormy day! I seriously thought I was going to see a tornado sweep through my little city! The clouds were dark and it started pouring down rain with winds that could have blown me away! Crazy how fast weather changes...and I live in Ohio...known to be the most bipolar state for its weather! Thank you Jesus :)
As I watched the storm come to an end, I realized how beautiful the sky was after the storm...it was more beautiful than it was before the storm had started! Amazing to me :)
Isn't life like that too? You know...the situations and "storms" we go through? We only look at our surroundings during the storm, but rarely do we ever gaze at the sky when it's all over. As the storm worsens, we look around us, skimming the scenery for something beautiful...when the true beauty is the end result. Sure, things can get wild, and something beautiful during the storm may make it LOOK better, but it doesn't truly MAKE the storm any better.
God is our beauty in the storm and He takes us through the storms to make His plans for us more beautiful than before. Think about your most recent storm...can you see the darkness, the clouds, and the rain? Now think of what happened when you came out of the storm...was it something worth struggling for? Was the storm worth the sky in the end?
As storms come through your life push through in anticipation to seeing the beauty of the sky after its all over.
Always remember that in everything we go through, there is a lesson being taught. Jesus teaches us to trust Him during these storms. He also teaches us about timing. We know that the storm comes in HIS timing and we must learn that the storm ends in HIS timing as well. If we try to find a quick route out of the storm, we are missing out on the beauty at the end. Your skies may end up looking more cloudy than before the storm if you walk out on the storm prematurely. God takes us through things for a reason...and they are only for a SEASON! So push through the WHOLE storm and don't be afraid of the storms when they come. Don't shake in the boat...instead help keep the boat sailing by trusting the Captain and following His commands. If He says turn the boat this way or that way, don't doubt it...turn it! Have faith in Him!
Isaiah 43:2 -'When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you..."
If we become fearful during the storm, we may work up a ruckus on the boat...and it could end up tipping! If a boat takes on too much motion, it becomes vulnerable to tip. Be still...and know that HE is GOD!
Psalms 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God..."
The best thing to do during a storm is to rest. Rest in God. Rest in faith. Rest in anticipation for what's to come.
I promise you, if you push through, obey Him, trust Him, and rest in Him during your storms you will see something more beautiful than you could ever imagine in the end :)
